What is body reflexology?

The hieroglyph translates as: "Do not hurt me." And the practitioner replies: "I will make sure you bless me."

An ancient and profoundly human approach

Reflexology is an ancient practice that has its origins in Egypt, where frescoes more than 5,000 years old already bear witness to healing gestures.

It then developed in China, where the word "foot" literally means "part of the body that preserves health." In India, too, foot and hand stimulation techniques have long been practiced to relieve bodily ailments and aid healing.

From Antiquity to Modern Reflexology

At the beginning of the 20th century, Dr. Fitzgerald, an American ENT specialist, discovered the analgesic effects of certain pressures on the body's extremities. By dividing the body into longitudinal zones, he laid the foundations of modern reflexology.

Later, physiotherapist Eunice Ingham refined this approach and mapped the reflex zones as they are used today. This was the beginning of what is now called body reflexology , a comprehensive and integrated method.

The different types of reflexology

Reflexology involves applying specific pressure to reflex points on the body to stimulate its natural self-regulating mechanisms. Body Reflexology encompasses different types of reflexology:

  • Foot reflexology
  • Hand reflexology
  • Auricular reflexology on the ears
  • Dermoneural reflexology on the back and clavicles
  • Facial reflexology on the head

Each reflex zone corresponds to an organ, function, or system of the body. The session is adapted accordingly, depending on individual needs.

How does your assessment session go?

The assessment session lasts approximately 2 hours and takes place in four stages:

Welcome exchange and health check-up

We start by discussing your needs, based on the form you will have completed beforehand (15 to 20 minutes).

Zero gravity chair

You settle in comfortably, fully clothed, with your feet uncovered. I work on your feet, hands, collarbones, and ears. A blanket is available.

Back and head

We change chairs to work gently on the back and head, in order to promote overall relaxation.

Integration and closure

We conclude with a brief discussion about your feelings. If you wish, you can draw an oracle card to close the session with a symbolic energy.
